The 3rd German Playground Day took place this year at the Butterfly Meadows in Berlin-Biesdorf - and we at Kaiser & Kühne were right in the middle of it instead of just being there. Together with the Federal Association of Playground Equipment and Leisure Facility Manufacturers (BSFH), the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district authority and many committed partners, the day was all about play, movement and inclusion.
German Playground Day: Inclusion celebrated with sunshine and fun
At the end of 2024, the butterfly meadows were already inclusive playground now opened at the 3rd German Playground Day was officially celebrated on a grand scale. Families from the neighbourhood, children, educational professionals and representatives from politics and administration took the opportunity to try out the facility and find out about modern, inclusive play space concepts.
The focus was on the question of how playgrounds can be designed so that all children can really take part - regardless of physical limitations. Barrier-free access, cleverly zoned play areas and offers that promote both motor and social skills make the butterfly meadows a vivid example of best practice. For us as a manufacturer, it is particularly valuable when local authorities use such projects as a beacon.

So that the 3rd German Playground Day will not only be remembered professionally, but also emotionally, a suitable supporting programme was of course also provided: there were drinks, ice cream, children's tattoos and lots of small activities that focused on the children. The sun came out on time and ensured that the square felt just as lively as it was intended to be - an open meeting place for families.
It is a great pleasure for Kaiser & Kühne to be part of this special place with our play equipment. In combination with other high-quality elements - including rope play equipment from a regional partner - a playground has been created that emphasises the idea of the German Playground Day perfectly: more attention, more quality and more awareness of good scope.

Municipalities that in future Own projects with inclusive aspirations can learn a lot from the butterfly meadows: Children's participation, robust materials, barrier-free access and a coherent overall concept directly contribute to the acceptance and duration of use.
If you are planning a new playground or want to modernise existing facilities, we are happy to support you from the initial idea to realisation.
