Where people used to party in Stade is now a new residential neighbourhood. A compact neighbourhood playground has been created between the houses on Salinenstrasse, visibly enhancing the outdoor space. Families from the neighbourhood meet here and children find new reasons to climb, slide and play every day. Kaiser & Kühne has delivered a solution for this location that works in everyday life: clearly structured, robust and with a high quality of stay.
The playground is designed so that different age groups can play at the same time. This means that there is no „bottleneck play equipment“, but an area that is well distributed. At the same time, the facility remains clearly laid out - an important point for parents and carers. In addition, the overall picture blends harmoniously into the surroundings and looks like a natural part of the neighbourhood.
Play value for the little ones - safely accessible
One crucial detail makes the location particularly suitable for everyday use: children can reach the slide via the steps. This means that even younger children can use the play value independently without the access seeming complicated. At the same time, the clear routing supports quiet use because the directions of movement remain clear.
The combination of climbing up and sliding down motivates children to try again and again. This creates a small sense of achievement and the children train coordination and self-confidence along the way. The area is also easy to supervise as the most important zones can be seen quickly.
Sand play with „more“: sand lift & play elements
Sand play is not just about shovels and moulds. The sand lift brings an additional level to the game: children transport sand upwards and then distribute it through a pipe or over a sand wheel. This noticeably extends the play phases because new sequences are constantly being created and the children can change roles.
This type of sand play also encourages cooperation. Whilst one child is pumping the sand, others control the process or take over the „building“ below. This turns a simple sand surface into a small play system that naturally supports communication and team play.
Materials that withstand everyday life
What counts most in the neighbourhood is resilience - whatever the weather and whatever the frequency of use. This is why the project favours a robust combination of stainless steel/steel, robinia and HPL. This choice of material ensures stability, a pleasant feel and a look that will retain its value even after many years.
HPL is particularly suitable for balustrades, roofs and themed play elements because it retains its shape and is easy to clean. HPL also enables a wide range of colour variations, allowing accents to be set without making the overall installation look restless. The result is a playground that is both practical and has a clear, high-quality appearance.
Realisation with Spiel & Freizeit Nord
The project was realised together with our commercial agency for northern Germany, Spiel & Freizeit Nord. Close coordination between planning and implementation meant that the facility could be realised precisely for the location - with a view to its use, surroundings and suitability for everyday use. This results in solutions that are not only convincing on paper, but also work in daily operation.
