On Wednesday, 5 June 2024, the schoolyard of BBS Nienburg was abuzz with excitement as students gathered for the ‘Abfahrt Ausbildung!’ (Off to training!) event. The parking lot event gave students the opportunity to meet directly with regional training companies, including Kaiser & Kühne. Further information about the event is also available directly from BBS Nienburg and the Nienburg Job Centre.
Instead of traditional exhibition halls, career guidance took place where young people spend their days: on school grounds. Companies were able to present their offerings, answer questions and engage in informal conversation from their company cars or directly at their stands. For many students, ‘Abfahrt Ausbildung’ is an ideal opportunity to secure a training position or arrange an internship shortly before or during their final year of school.
On this day, we presented our apprenticeship programmes for construction mechanics and industrial clerks. The direct exchange was particularly exciting: What does everyday work in metal processing look like? What tasks await in the office? What development opportunities are there at an international manufacturer of playground equipment? Interested parties can also find out more at any time on our overview page for jobs and training at Kaiser & Kühne.
Support was also provided by career guidance services, job centres and other partners, who offered assistance with topics such as job applications, career choices and Plan B. We have compiled additional tips for a compelling job application on our page with application tips.
Our conclusion: ‘Abfahrt Ausbildung’ is a powerful example of what modern career guidance can look like – direct and on equal terms. We are already looking forward to the next round and perhaps to welcoming some of the young people as our new trainees soon.
