Ukraine
Ukraine is a large state in Eastern Europe, known for Orthodox churches, the Black Sea coast, and wooded mountains. In the capital, Kyiv, is St. Sophia’s Cathedral with a golden dome, as well as mosaics and frescoes from the 11th century. The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is located on a hill above the Dnieper River and houses grave goods from the time of the Scythians as well as catacombs with coffins of mummified monks.
