The water play area in the <strong>Knudsen Park in Holladay, Utah<\/strong> is a very good example of this form of networked water feature in public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The installation is based on robust stainless steel water feature elements, as supplied by Kaiser &amp; K\u00fchne via its North American partner <a href=\"https:\/\/goric.com\/playground\/knudsen-park\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Goric Marketing Group USA<\/a> supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The location - city park in the historic \u201eKnudsen's Corner\u201c<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Knudsen Park<\/strong> is located in Holladay, a suburb of Salt Lake City on the edge of the Wasatch Mountains. The site is part of the historic \u201eKnudsen's Corner\u201c area and was formerly used for agricultural and commercial purposes. Today, in addition to the water play area, the park offers a playground, a hammock garden, lawns, a pavilion, an outdoor classroom and walking paths - a versatile meeting place for a city with a population of around 32,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The city of Holladay presents the park on its website as an important component of the municipal open space provision and provides information about the facilities, opening times and location. More information can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/holladayut.gov\/departments\/parks_and_recreation\/knudsen_park.php?utm_source=chatgpt.com\">City of Holladay to Knudsen Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The task - more than just a classic splash pad<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of a simple \u201esplash pad\u201c with jets and fountains, the city wanted a <strong>Water play landscape<\/strong>, active in children:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set the water in motion,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Control paths and branches yourself,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try out different flow speeds,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and experience scientific phenomena in a playful way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The facility should also offer quality time for parents and grandparents, be easily visible and blend in with the design of the other park areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our solution - stainless steel water feature with channels, weirs and screw<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The water play area comprises around <strong>4,000 square feet<\/strong> (approx. 370 m\u00b2) and is slightly terraced in the park. Above a concrete surface is a system of <strong>Stainless steel channels, basins and storage elements<\/strong> which distributes the water to different levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Characteristic elements are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hand pumps and cranks<\/strong><br>Children activate the water flow themselves - nothing happens automatically, but through their own movements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Channels, weirs and flaps<\/strong><br>Adjustable gates and dams allow the <strong>Direction and quantity<\/strong> of the water flow. Children decide together where the water should run.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Archimedean screw<\/strong><br>An Archimedean screw transports water visibly upwards and visualises physical principles such as power transmission and height difference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Natural materials<\/strong><br>Sandstone blocks, gravel and plants anchor the stainless steel elements in a landscape reminiscent of natural streams and irrigation ditches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The technical components are based on modular systems such as our <a href=\"https:\/\/showroom.kaiser-kuehne.com\/product-category\/wasserspielanlagen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Water play systems<\/a> and supplementary <a href=\"https:\/\/showroom.kaiser-kuehne.com\/product-category\/wasserspielgeraete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Water play equipment<\/a>, designed for a long service life, high utilisation intensity and good maintenance accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning through play - understanding water in public spaces<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Knudsen Park, great importance was attached to ensuring that children not only \u201esplash around\u201c, but also <strong>Understanding connections<\/strong> can. With the help of a municipal bond and funding (including from the Land and Water Conservation Fund), the city was able to acquire the land and develop it as a park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Result - strong water play landscape with model character<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today the <strong>Water play area in Knudsen Park<\/strong> a much-used meeting place for families and children in Holladay.
